Victoria Youth Ultimate (VYU) is an initiative created by Jordan Perrault and its aim was to create opportunities for youth in Victoria and surrounding areas to play and enjoy Ultimate and to choose to excel at the sport if they wish. In its' inagural year, VYU taught Ultimate in dozens of middle and high schools across the South Island. The goal was to introduce as many students to the sport as possible and then provide them with opportunities to play outside of P.E. by starting a youth Ultimate league. Last year, 8 schools participated and the season end tournament was a big success. He has mapped out the projected growth of this program:
I was lucky enough to get the opportunity to join Jordan at most of the schools and could see what a success this initiative was becoming. We decided to take this one step further to create this resource to combine it with our presence in the schools. The idea was that we would go to the schools and teach the first class then give the teachers this resource so that they could continue the unit if they decided to.
